Industrial effluents
Traditional soluble coffee or specialties such as cappuccino – the industrial production of instant coffee produces considerable quantities of effluent with a significantly high solid content. GEA decanters have demonstrated their worth as a forward-looking solution for effluent treatment in the coffee industry, make a specific contribution to environmental protection and a reduction in disposal costs, and also enable valuable substances to be recovered.
Companies in the coffee industry are increasingly facing major challenges as a result of production-related effluent flows and effluent flows generated by treatment processes. The high level of solid content in the effluent requires the use of robust technologies which are able to reliably and efficiently treat the sludge and thus make a major contribution towards assuring continuous production. GEA decanters demonstrate their efficiency and effectiveness in the treatment of such effluents.
As a result of their closed design and excellent dewatering capacity, GEA decanters assure a high level of dry matter in the separated solids, and are easily able to cope with high volume flows. The dry solids phase does not have to be disposed of expensively, and instead can be profitably used in combustion as an energy medium. If customers decide to use the first-class decanter technology of GEA, they will benefit from significant cost savings as a result of low maintenance costs and an energy-efficient method of operation.

The T.VIS® control top is an optimal system for controlling and monitoring GEA valves of the series VARIVENT®, ECOVENT® & T-smart.
The decanter’s hour has come as soon as the solids content in the suspension to be processed is particularly high. These machines provide the benefits of high clarifying efficiency and maximum dewatering as well as the separation of liquids with the simultaneous removal of solids. The main requirements in this respect include a high bowl speed, a...
Dewatering and thickening decanters from GEA are continuously operating horizontal solid bowl centrifuges for efficient sludge treatment and economical volume reduction. The frame is of open design with either gravity or pressure discharge of the clarified phase.
Hygienic valves from GEA form the core component of matrix-piped process plants. Thanks to a pioneering valve concept that sets standards for its flexibility, as well as the latest control and automation functions, our valves offer manufacturers maximum product safety and process reliability. All GEA hygienic valves are designed to be efficient a...
The importance of quality cold chain management cannot be underestimated. Ensuring that perishable foodstuffs are safe and of high quality at the point of consumption is a tremendous responsibility for those operating cold chain...
The latest evolution in automated milking introduces batch milking – a dairy farming practice where cows are milked in groups at fixed milking times, usually two or three times per day. The automation technology is helping to...
The story of the GEA centrifuge begins in 1893, when Franz Ramesohl and Franz Schmidt began production of their patented mechanical milk separator, paving the way for modern dairy processing. The innovation helped overcome a...
