All those solutions have one big advantage in common. They combine best efficiencies by using the natural refrigerant ammonia and a state-of-the-art motor and compressor technology. With an ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warning potential (GWP) of zero, ammonia is a particularly climate-friendly refrigerant and a particularly efficient one. It has excellent thermodynamic properties, reflected in very high efficiencies and hence low energy consumption and operating costs for refrigeration technology. It has consistently been used in food processing plants, the beverage and dairy industries, as well as in breweries and cold stores, last but not least for its very low charges.
Further highlights of the new GEA CompaX series are a wide, stepless adjustable variable internal volume ratio, an extremely wide speed range and the highest safety and reliability through decades of experience in developing screw compressors.
The two GEA CompaX models 350 and 400 have a flow volume of 321 and 372 m³/h (at 2,940 rpm). By using a speed of up to 6000 rpm and the possibility of a multi-compressor arrangement the two compressor sizes are suited for small, medium, and larger capacity requirements. The outstanding volumetric efficiency of ammonia paired with engineering assets such as a wide, stepless adjustable variable internal volume ratio, and the wide speed range have taken the screw compressor development to the next level. Add highest safety and reliability through decades of experience and know-how.
The compact design and the simultaneously high degree of integration also make the GEA CompaX a cost-efficient and space-saving product.
In the introductory phase, the new GEA CompaX 350 and 400 models are available as both packages and chillers. The new GEA Grasso X semi-hermetic screw compressor packages are offering maximum flexibility and efficiency with a minimum footprint and overall cost. Customers can choose between a single version and a multipackage. The multipackage can optionally be configured by the customer with two, three or four identical CompaX 350 or 400 units in parallel arrangement.
Combined with the wide speed range of each screw compressor, the GEA Grasso X package setup provides industry-leading availability, redundancy and efficiencies at the highest level over nearly the entire full and part load range. Refrigeration capacities range from approximately 200 to 1,900 kW (NH3, -10/+35 °C).
The GEA BluX semi-hermetic chiller series includes all the features and benefits of the unit. The proven, state-of-the-art heat exchanger set completes the product to a compact, highly efficient and safe plug-and-play solution. With secondary coolant temperatures of +12/+6 °C and condensing at ambient temperatures (+35 °C), the GEA BluX capacity range extends from approximately 350 kW cooling capacity with 1x CompaX 350 at 3,000 rpm to circa 1,530 kW with 2x CompaX 400 at 6,000 rpm.
"The compact, safe and reliable products in combination with their high efficiency lead to reduced total costs and a most sustainable solution" says Ron Hoffmann, product manager for screw compressors at GEA. In addition, GEA systems require a minimum of maintenance. "We like to convince our customers with the performance and efficiency figures of our machines. We are happy to bring over 50 years of expertise in the development and production of screw compressors to the market with our proven and new products."
The new GEA CompaX series and the other product lines described are developed by GEA Heating & Refrigeration Technologies.
