The prevalence of hoof problems has been steadily increasing, leading to a rise in lameness rates among dairy cows. This not only causes immense discomfort and pain for the animals, but also results in a decrease in milk production and overall profitability for farmers.
GEA PedicoSprayer combines cleaning and hoof care in one go, directly after milking while the cow is still in the DairyRobot R9500. This technology benefits from powerful hygiene products, demonstrating an effective solution for improving hoof care.
After milking the back hooves are first cleaned with water and then – as required – 15 ml of undiluted PedicoCare is sprayed on the back hooves to promote and maintain healthy hooves and skin.
With its PedicoSprayer and hygiene products, GEA offers an efficient combination of technology and chemistry matched to hoof care. The innovative spray system consists of a main unit, a care pump and a spray bar, installed inside the box. It fits well into the look of the system and does not require any additional space in the robot.

Farmers Quote
“Before the Hoof Care System went into operation, an assessment revealed some cows had severe Digital Dermatitis with lameness, while about a third had mild infections without lameness. After 6 to 8 weeks, almost all mild infections improved or were recovering, and severe cases showed relief. This proves the Hoof Care System effectively supports optimal hoof care and keeps the herd healthy."
