GEA screw compressors match the requirements of the chemical and petrochemical industries

GEA compressors are a globally established system component for industrial refrigeration and for treating natural gas, biogas and industrial gases in oil & gas, power, chemical and other operations. Based on the principles of efficiency and reliability GEA extended the history of the Grasso LT series by the XG and XH models. These compressors convince with compactness and ease of service and are characterized by a unique ratio of volume flow to weight. At this year’s Achema GEA will present the GEA Grasso LT-XG, which is the second-largest screw compressor model as higher capacities are often required by the chemical and oil & gas industry. To meet the wide range of requirements especially for the chemical and petrochemical industry these compressors feature ANSI flange connections as standard and are available with further specifications according to API 619.
50 years of experience in compressor technology
As an international technology leader, GEA focuses on process technology and components for sophisticated production processes. Everything is focused on value and functionality from development in the research labs to the production processes and quality assurance.
Unique ratio of swept volume
The models XG and XH stand out by a unique ratio of swept volume flow to weight. With a theoretical swept volume flow up to 13,846 m3/h for the largest model GEA Grasso LT-XH, the GEA compressor is designed for refrigeration applications as well as for gas compression systems. Due to the flexible construction the compressor can be used for typical food cooling processes or for high specification API-619 applications in the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries. Whether the double shaft seal, the tilting pad thrust bearings, the sleeve bearing temperature monitoring or the explosion proof design many options to protect the compressor are available. The XH compressor with steel cast casing has a maximum weight of 5,200 kg, which is half of that of other manufacturer. Above all that with a design pressure of 28 bar and a maximum speed of 3,600 rpm the compressor is suitable for low stage and high stage applications.
A wide range of suitable gases
Designed as positive-displacement machines, GEA compressors can cope with a wide range of molecular weights. The compressors work perfectly with natural refrigerants like NH3 (R717) and most other refrigerants as well as natural gas, biogas or other process gases.
The machinery for industrial refrigeration and gas compression works reliably and quietly. They are engineered for maximum energy efficiency, long service life, safe operation and easy maintenance. The compressors are manufactured to comply with stringent API 619 safety standards and other international guidelines.
