- High School degree or equivalent
- Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools
- Reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, inspection reports, procedures and manuals. Able to write basic reports
- Performing calculations and applying mathematical concepts such as geometry, basic algebra and basic trigonometry
- Detail oriented
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed a 3 to 4 year formal apprenticeship as machinist with specialization in lathe machining
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in manual machining of large diameter, stainless steel precision parts using engine lathes, preferably machining of parts from high speed centrifuges
- Experience working with the metric system, including use of metric measuring tools and reading / understanding of metric drawings
- Experience in evaluating and identifying part failures such as corrosion, erosion, cavitation or fatigue in stainless steel parts.
- Self-motivated, dependable and able to work with little direction
- Adaptable to changing work demands and desire to learn new skills
- Good social skills and able to work in a team
Physical Requirements:
- Sit, stand, bend, reach, walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Use of steps, stairs, lifts routinely
- May be required to work extended hours which may include weekend and holidays
- Regularly exposed to manufacturing areas that may require personal protective equipment
- Regularly exposed to a manufacturing work environment that may be dirty, greasy and noisy
