Making milk production more sustainable for a growing world
The world's population is growing and with it demand for milk. Dairy is an essential component of many global diets. However, its production can be resource-intensive and impact the environment. GEA’s Christian Müller, Senior Director Sustainability Farm Technologies, sheds light on how technological innovations powered by GEA make milk production more efficient and profitable.

Het verhaal van de GEA-centrifuge begint in 1893, toen Franz Ramesohl en Franz Schmidt aanvingen met de productie van hun gepatenteerde mechanische melkseparator, waarmee ze de weg naar een moderne zuivelverwerking plaveiden. Dankzij de innovatie kon een enorme uitdaging van die tijd worden overwonnen: melk leveren aan een groeiende stedelijke bevolking in het Duitsland van het einde van de 19e eeuw. En het bevorderde een bloeiende industrie. Tegen 1913 waren 67 andere bedrijven in Duitsland ook overgegaan op de productie van centrifuges, waarvan vele zich in de buurt van hun locatie in Oelde bevonden. Na 130 jaar lang de toon te hebben aangevoerd in separatortechnologie is GEA de centrifuge nog steeds aan het herzien.
