Email fraud security warning

Several businesses have reported that currently fake e-mails are circulating which falsely claim to be from GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft (www.gea.com)

Should you receive a communication from a domain other than @gea.com:

• please be careful, and check whether the e-mail looks suspicious
• do not, under any circumstances, get involved in suspicious requests
• we strongly recommend that you simply do not reply or report it to your local police or anti-fraud agency.

Several businesses have reported that currently fake e-mails are circulating which falsely claim to be from GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft (www.gea.com). The e-mails are used to place orders for the delivery of different goods, like wood pellets and recently toilet paper to fake addresses in different European countries. When actually delivered, no payment is made. 

 A typical text of the e-mails is as follows: 

 „Dear Supplier,

We GEA GROUP AG a German based company express our intent to purchase your Products from your company. We learnt about your company online when searching for a good wood pellets supplier/Manufacture with ENPLUS A1 certified.

We are interested in Purchasing your wood pellets. Kindly get back to us with the above products 15 kg packing pictures and prices for possible purchase. However, Our proposed payment method for this first order will be 10 days after the invoice date guaranteed by your factoring company or insurance company (credit insurer). 

We are looking forward hearing from you.

Please note that these e-mails are not genuine. They are not originating from GEA Group, but from criminals and fraudsters. GEA Group does everything in its power to take action against this fraud, e.g. by blocking the fake domains from which parts of the fraudulent e-mails were sent. However, GEA Group can unfortunately not avoid fraud like this and is apparently not responsible for any such criminal acts.

Should you receive a communication of the type described above, please be careful, check whether the e-mail looks suspicious (e.g. if a domain other than “@gea.com” is used) and DO NOT, under any circumstances, get involved in a business with these people. We strongly recommend that you simply do not reply or report it to your local police or anti-fraud agency.
