Thirty percent energy savings with GEA steam ejector made of graphite

11 Jun 2018

GEA has developed a steam ejector made of DIABON® graphite especially for highly corrosive applications in the chemical industry. Compared to the porcelain steam jet vacuum pumps frequently used to extract aggressive vapors and gases, the graphite pumps have a higher mechanical resistance and a more precise design.

The GEA steam ejector made of DIABON® graphite especially for highly corrosive applications in the chemical industry saves up to 30 percent energy.

Existing plants with a porcelain ejector can be optimized with regard to energy consumption and performance by installing a GEA steam ejector made of DIABON® graphite. Energy savings of more than 30 % compared to a porcelain ejector of the same size are possible.

GEA offers a complete service package for retrofitting complete vacuum systems without additional on-site modifications, from the inspection of the vacuum unit and the support to determine the performance data to engineering and execution. During conversion, as many components as possible are reused, connections and installation dimensions remain unchanged, capacity is optimized according to customer requirements and the retrofitting process is kept as short as possible.

The GEA steam ejector made of DIABON® graphite was developed in cooperation with SGL Carbon and meets the strict safety requirements of the chemical industry. It is available as standard version for suction flows from 1 to 10 kg/h and for suction pressures from 1 to 10 mbar. The individual components are matched to each other in such a way that very different suction parameters can be achieved through various combinations. Customer-specific versions can also be provided relatively easily thanks to the modular design. And due to consistent standardization, the GEA graphite ejector is also an economically attractive alternative to porcelain.
