GEA HYGiTip Bag Emptying System

Fully automatic bag cutting and emptying for 20-25kg bags of powdered products. The GEA HYGiTip system is designed to eliminate risk to finished product whilst ensuring safe, reliable and uninterrupted emptying of multi-wall paper bags in secondary powder processing systems.

The GEA HYGiTip bag emptying system provides automatic bag conditioning, cutting and removal of powdered product from 20-25 kg polyethylene bags. The system is designed to safely discharge powdered food and dairy products at up to 8 metric tonnes/hr.

Limited Intervention Solution for Powder Emptying

Many processing industries require bags of powder to be emptied into a receiving hopper or other intermediate storage for further processing. This operation is commonly a manual process, whereby an operator must lift and manoeuvre heavy bags and then open the bag using a sharp knife to slice through the liner to allow powder removal. Not only does this process present health and safety risks to the operator, it also introduces potential risk to the product integrity from contamination that can occur during manual handling.

The HYGiTip is capable of emptying 20-25 kg bags of powder in a fully enclosed high hygiene environment. During normal operation, the HYGiTip runs continuously without the need for operator intervention, thereby ensuring maximum protection for the product. Manual input is only required for daily cleaning.

The HYGiTip forms part of a complete solution for bag handling and emptying. When configured with de-palletizing/outer stripping, sterilization, powder handling, dust collection and waste management, this automated solution enables the plant to run continuously with minimal supervision, thereby increasing OOE.

With a focus on sustainability, customers are also looking for solutions to separate their waste streams. The HYGiTip is designed to handle products where the packaging has been separated before tipping. This means that the paper outer bag has been removed prior to emptying, leaving only the plastic inner bag to be processed. 

This separation of waste streams enables customers to meet their needs for recycling kraft bags, which is not possible in more traditional bag handling systems.
