GEA Nano Valve

Thanks to GEA’s commitment to efficiency and reliability, the core components of the homogenizer are engineered differently, based on the pressure range, product formulations and the process conditions.

The homogenizing valve

High-pressure homogenization involves pumping fluids into a homogenizing valve, where they are micronized down to the required particle size. Inside the valve, products undergo the typical effects of fluid dynamics:turbulence, cavitation, shear forces and impact speed.

The achievable particle size varies according to the application and product formulation, which is why there are various GEA homogenizing valve designs. The valve geometry is fundamental in obtaining specific results on the product and to ensure optimal use of pressure.

Different homogenizing valve designs allow an increase in efficiency and a reduction in operating pressure, providing energy savings and optimal use of ingredients and resources.

First and second stage homogenizing valve

In order to further stabilize the product, especially when processing oil in water emulsions or fiber base products, a second stage homogenizing valve can be added to the homogenizer.

The second stage is available both for the standard valve and for the NanoVALVETM  for an optimized use of the valve components which perform a continuous fine tuning process where the product quality increased in terms of viscosity because of the back pressure created by the second stage.

Pneumatic actuation

The current homogenizing valve actuation is the result of years of experience and technical advances that have led to the use of pneumatic actuation as the safest and the most efficient method to actuate the valve

  • No risk of oil leaks close to products
  • No hydraulic oil pump
  • Soft adjusting
  • Easy automation possible
  • Optimal dampening in operation
  • Adjustable closing speed (no hammers)
  • Quick and complete pressure release

The compression block

The key components of the high-pressure homogenizer also include the compression block, which is used to generate the pressure needed to pump the product inside the homogenizing valve.

GEA compression heads feature an extremely clean configuration (3-A approval), and are suitable for both food and non-food applications.

They are produced with special materials that have been tested for maximum reliability and resistance under severe stress.

  • Very High Pressure (VHP) Multiblock compression block, thanks to the separate-blocks asset it is possible to reduce the material stress caused by the pulsating pressure peak. Read more
  • OpenXFLOTM  , to easily pump difficult products to the homogenizing valve. Read more
  • NiSoCLEAN, top cleanibility compression block. Read more

Pumping valves

Pumping valves are essential components in the compression block in order to process fluids in the most efficient way. Poppet and ball type valves are available for different applications and process conditions, both with different features and goals.

Thanks to our experience in high pressure, we are always able to advise on the best pumping valve solution and at low pressure you can easily swop from standard to viscous products just by replacing the pumping valves.
