High-pressure homogenization involves pumping fluids into a homogenizing valve, where they are micronized down to the required particle size. Inside the valve, products undergo the typical effects of fluid dynamics:turbulence, cavitation, shear forces and impact speed.
The achievable particle size varies according to the application and product formulation, which is why there are various GEA homogenizing valve designs. The valve geometry is fundamental in obtaining specific results on the product and to ensure optimal use of pressure.
Different homogenizing valve designs allow an increase in efficiency and a reduction in operating pressure, providing energy savings and optimal use of ingredients and resources.
In order to further stabilize the product, especially when processing oil in water emulsions or fiber base products, a second stage homogenizing valve can be added to the homogenizer.
The second stage is available both for the standard valve and for the NanoVALVETM for an optimized use of the valve components which perform a continuous fine tuning process where the product quality increased in terms of viscosity because of the back pressure created by the second stage.
